~Happy Birthday to the greatest Mom~

The sweetest sounds to mortals given Are heard in Mother, Home, and Heaven.~William Goldsmith Brown

All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That's his. ~Oscar Wilde, The Importance of Being Earnest, 1895
I can only work and pray my hardest that someday I may be a fraction of the woman my beautiful Mother is.

A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts. ~Washington Irving
Happy Birthday Mom! You are the most beautiful person I know, inside and out! You have the biggest heart and you are the most loving person I know. You are such a great Mom, and my best friend! I love you so much and I hope that you have a great birthday.

Where flowers bloom so does hope

It is sad to see the summer winding down. I feel like there is so much more for me to do and see! This last week we went to D.C. and saw the Botanical Gardens. It was really cool to see all the flowers and plants, and after being there and enjoying the gardens I thought of this quote. "Where flowers bloom so does hope."- Lady Bird Johnson.

Lasik- PRK?? Maybe both!

No more glasses!
My sweet goggles I have to sleep in for a few nights My dark mysterious glasses I have to wear for a few weeks
A little over 2 weeks ago at Girls Camp I ripped my last contact. I had to start wearing my glasses, which I like other than the fact they make my eyes and a portion of my face look smaller. Well I was telling Adam that I had to find a new eye doctor out here in D.C so I could get some contacts and he suggested that I look into Lasik. I've been wanting to get it and this seemed like a good time to do it. I went in on Friday for Lasik. All my exams they took said I was in the normal range with good eye pressure and most importantly thick corneas! It is normally a 15 minute procedure but I was there for a little longer(about an hour)! I ended up getting Lasik in my right eye and a different procedure PRK done in my left eye. For Lasik they put a little suction device on your eye and then they laser a flap. They put they eye retractors in and made it wider and wider till it was digging into my cheekbone and I thought my eye was going to tear. They pushed and pushed that suction onto my eye, It would suction but not hold for very long. They started the laser to make the flap and with 3 seconds left it came off. So more pressure of trying to get that suction on! Again and again! haha Luckily they got it on for the last few seconds and we were able to finish with the laser treatment. Then my left eye......over and over they would put that suction on and it when it would hold it only lasted for a few seconds. I ended up having to wait in the lobby for a while and they said well we can try again or you can go with PRK. They tried the suction thing again but because of my eye size, shape, and bone structure, and inflammation from all the attempts to get it on my eye it was not going to happen. So I got PRK (photorefractive keratectomy).PRK is performed with an excimer laser, which uses a cool ultraviolet light beam to precisely remove tiny bits of tissue from the surface of the cornea in order to reshape it. With PRK, the corneal epithelium is removed and discarded, allowing the cells to regenerate after the surgery. It has a longer healing process but has the same result, eventually. The procedure is distinct from LASIK (Laser-Assisted in-Situ Keratomileusis), a form of laser eye surgery where a permanent flap is created in the deeper layers of the cornea. So that is why my eyes look so bad! My Doctor said it would take about a month for the blood to clear up. Hopefully it will clear up soon so I can go back to nursery without scaring them! I am so grateful for my family here! While Adam is gone they come visit me, bring me lunch and dinner and help clean my house! Thank you so much!

4th of July in D.C.

Chad and McCall finally got engaged!

This was my first summer in the D.C. area and I couldn't imagine being bere another year and missing out on the fireworks at the nations capitol. To be there was way cool. The firework show didn't compare to Idaho Falls show but it was still cool!
The next night Adam and I helped one of the guys here propose to his girlfriend. We put a blanket out on the banks of the potomac looking toward the Lincoln and Washington Memorials and we put candles all around the blanket, and spread rose petals all over. Chad had got sparkling cider and pretty glasses, and he made her a mix so that when they walked up to it "their" song would be playing and they would dance and then he would propose. It was the perfect setting and so fun to help with that. Congrats to Chad and McCall!
