-The Birth Story-
Liam Adam Harper was born on September 11th, 2011 at 1:37p.m.
I had been having Braxton Hicks and had been dilated at a 1 1/2-2 and 70% effaced for the last month. I tried not to be disappointed when every Dr's appointment was the same prognosis...no progress! I thought this baby is never going to come, but at the same time I was so nervous that I was ok with him coming late. I had an appointment on the 9th of September, the day after my due date and things were still the same. I was scheduled to be induced on the 16th of September. I really wanted him to be born on 09-10-11 so I bounced on the exercise ball and bounced and bounced. I had contractions all day and at the end of the day I noticed them to be more consistent but they weren't hurting so I didn't pay much attention to them. Adam and I hung out with friends and then Adam and I took a walk. Right before I went to sleep I noticed that the contractions felt a little different and hurt a little bit. I woke up at 2 a.m. and tried to go back to sleep but couldn't sleep through them. I started timing them at 2:30. They started at 5 minutes apart and got closer together. I woke Adam up at 3:30 and we timed them for another hour before we decided to go to the hospital. I did not want to get sent home so I tried to wait to go to the hospital as long as possible. We made our bed and cleaned up a little before we left. I had made sure the house was clean the two weeks we had been home but that Saturday I didn't clean and it was kinda a mess..of course! We got to the hospital a little after 5 and went to Labor and Delivery. They checked me and I was at a 3 and 90% effaced, and I was thinking great they are going to send me home, but the nurse said that was great. We waited around for an hour until they came and checked me again at 6:30 a.m. I was the same......not surprising! A new nurse was on shift and she(Paige) told me I could go home with some drugs to sleep through the contractions, I could walk around and try to get things moving faster, or they could call my Doctor and see if she wanted to start me on pitocin. My Dr. asked the nurse what I wanted to do and Paige said I think she should stay and have a baby today, so I did!
They started me on pitocin and I got the epidural. It was nice! I called my Mom around 8 and told her she probably wouldn't be going to church.
Luckily my mom had decided to come to Utah on Friday just in case this baby decided to come on his own before my scheduled induction. She was in Layton with my Sister Adrienne and luckily my other sister Jessica had stopped there on their way home from St. George. So the three of them came.
When Paige checked me I was at a 4 and totally effaced. The next time she checked me I was at a 4 again. So, Dr. Harrison came in and broke my water to hopefully speed things up. An hour later I was at a 6 and so Paige came in a little later and stopped the pitocin. 50 minutes later I was at a 9. We hung out for a bit. I was dilated to a 9 1/2 a little while later. Paige couldn't believe how active he was in my belly. She was surprised he hadn't broke my water on his own.
I was having major contractions and so she called Dr. Harrison who was 20 min. away. Paige had me push once to get to a 10 and then she decided to have me push on a contraction and the baby crowned. On the next contraction she told me, if I say stop- stop pushing! So I push and she says stop but Adam was hilarious. He was right there and he jumps up and says, "wow ok stop, stop, stop". Paige put my legs down and then together and Adam said, "maybe we should hog-tie those legs".
Dr. Harrison was five minutes away and when she came I pushed through three contractions and he was here!! He was born at 1:37p.m. My Mom, Adrienne, and Jessica got to stay in and it was just a party! Paige was the best nurse and Dr. Harrison is such a great doctor.

Waiting for baby!

After NY I went home to Rexburg and hung out with my parents! I love being home. We ate out of the garden everyday, loved the summer storms, had lazy days, and watched as my belly grew every day! All my dr's appointments went great. My mom and I went to Price, UT for one weekend and hung out with all my Aunts. I made some bibs and onesies that I saw on pinterest. Adam came home from VA 2 weeks before my due date and we got busy to get ready for baby! It was nice to be busy but then when we got everything done- all I had to do was wait.....was today going to be the day? I had been dilated to a 2 and 70% effaced for almost three weeks. When we went to my 39th week Dr's appointment she talked about inducing me at 41 weeks if he hadn't come. Oh I had thought about him coming early but never thought about going over haha. But I felt so great that I was ok with going over. I loved being pregnant and I was so nervous about the change a baby brings I was ok with whenever. Adam and I enjoyed just being lazy! We went to the pool everyday and went out and had a fun time before this new phase of life happened. Adam was more anxious than I and often asked if I wanted to go for a walk or go eat spicy food! I knew I didn't really want to be induced and wanted him to come on his own so I bounced on an exercise ball and we hiked up to Bridal Veil Falls, ate spicy food (which kept me up all night with heartburn), and took nice walks. He did come and only three days late and we love him!

Summer time

I can't believe how fast the time flies by! This summer was so fun! In VIrginia the weather was so hot! These pics are from my phone for a little update!
Jess and I went to Rockville to visit our friend and while we were there we got us some yummy cupcakes from Georgetown cupcakes and we hit up ocean city. We had a blast!
Kacie my beautiful and talented sister in law took some pictures of Adam and I before I left. Right before we went to get ready to take the pictures the weather looked like it was gonna be cloudy and smoggy but we decided to go and hope for good lighting. I'm glad we did. The lighting was perfect and we found the perfect spot by accident!
We had a great time in Winchester and because I had to go home at the end of July my mom and sisters and sisters in law decided we needed a girls trip and went to NY. It was so fun and perfect weather. We had missed the heat wave and we were all so glad. We went to Wicked, ate good food, saw the sites, shopped a little and had a great time! Right before NY I had a Dr's appointment. I hadn't been to a Dr. all summer other than going to a lab to take my glucose test(which I failed). I was going to take the 2nd glucose test and make sure everything was going good.
Everything looked great-that Dr. said I was really really healthy with good bones. He did advise me not to travel and go to NY and so for a second I thought about not going. He told me i would probably have my baby and he would be in the Nicu and it would be horrible. But I had to fly home anyways and after talking to my Dr's office they said I would be ok and that I would swell....and I did! The worst was flying home from NY, by the time we got to Adriennes house my ankles were huge! I am so glad I went 8 months pregnant and everything! I didn't slow the girls down at all and even out shopped them the last day!
I ended up never getting my 2nd glucose test and when I got back to my Doctor in Utah they did a random blood sugar test and didn't feel like I needed to take the three hour test at 35weeks. I was so happy.
