looks like you guys had an awesome time in beijing for national holiday! that was our original plan, but we ended up going to fenghuang and shaoshan and had a blast!! fenghuang was beautiful. yes, my husband knows chinese. not fluent, but enough to understand the majority of what is going on with ordering food, asking questions, etc. i know a little too, with shopping and things like that. we went and hiked waterfalls and boat rides and things like that, a lot of outdoors stuff. did you eat steak? that sounds fabulous!!!! yes, it is true, students sometimes do not connect with what we assume they would already know. i just speak slowly and draw a LOT of pictures on the board and always write the words down for them. that always helps. i teach freshman, and they are darling!
